Ethnic Studies Informational Webinar Series: African American Studies

The first webinar in the Ethnic Studies Informational Webinar Series is Tuesday, July 7, at 3 p.m. Led by State Superintendent Tony Thurmond. The first webinar focuses on African American Studies and features:
Assemblymember Shirley Weber, a Professor Emeritus and co-founder of Africana Studies at San Diego State University;
Shawn Ginwright, PhD, Professor of Education in the Africana Studies Department and Senior Research Associate at
San Francisco State University;
Assemblymember Jose Medina, who drafted legislation to make ethnic studies a high school graduation requirement; and students from the CDE’s newly formed Youth Advisory Council.
